Hi! I'm Megan, a lighting designer at Light My Bricks. When I first looked at the Iron Man MK4 Bust, I was a bit sceptical—it’s a small model, and I wasn’t sure how impactful lighting would be. But after experimenting with a few simple components, I was genuinely surprised at how effective it looked! A few strategic lights completely transformed it into a striking little display piece. Sometimes the smallest sets can have the biggest glow-up.
Lighting Inspiration
The goal was simple: highlight Iron Man’s signature features with minimal fuss. I used a set of Astro Regular Light Blue lights—one for the arc reactor, another under the plaque and minifigure, and two hidden behind Astro Caps to light the eyes. The glow from the arc reactor and flowing light beneath the base give the bust visual impact, while the eyes gain a cinematic soft blue glow without being overly bright.
This setup uses no extra LEGO® pieces and installs cleanly—perfect for those new to LEGO® lighting or looking for a low-effort, high-impact upgrade.
Feature Highlights
Arc Reactor & Eyes Lighting
The standout elements in this build are the arc reactor chest light and the diffused eye glow. I threaded an Astro Regular Light Blue light inside the arc reactor to give the reactor a powerful, soft glow. I have also placed two more light blue lights in the eyes and slotted Astro Caps in front of them, avoiding harsh brightness and mimicking the subtle glow seen in the films. These lights are discreetly tucked into existing cavities—no new bricks, no visible wiring—just seamless lighting effects that bring Iron Man to life.
