Hi, I’m Megan—a product designer here at Light My Bricks. I was thrilled to take on the PAC-MAN Arcade LEGO set, not only because it’s an incredibly fun and colourful build, but also because PAC-MAN happens to be my all-time favourite arcade game. Between the vibrant colours and the clever moving parts, this set was a joy to light up and bring to life!

Lighting Inspiration

One of my favourite parts of this lighting design is the custom 6-LED string light I added just above the PAC-MAN sign. It casts a warm, retro glow that really sets the tone for the entire build. Just below that, I installed two Cool White Meteor Lights underneath the sign to light up the LEGO-built screen, creating the illusion that it’s powered on, just like the real thing.

At the very top, I built two spotlights with warm white LEDs to shine up at PAC-MAN and the ghosts, giving them a dramatic, arcade-style presence. On the screen itself, I lit up three ‘Power Pellets’ to stay true to the game’s original design and help the whole scene come alive.

And finally, I tucked a light inside the coin insert icon in the bottom right corner. It shines through a trans-red brick to create a bold red glow, just like the old arcade machines I used to play on. It’s a small detail, but it really brings the nostalgia full circle.

Feature Highlights:

- Custom String Light

To make sure the PAC-MAN sign really stood out, I used a custom string light with six warm white LEDs. I positioned it just above the logo so it could cast a soft, retro-style glow over the top of the set. Each light is secured using trans-clear 1x1 open stud round plates, which clip over the LEDs to hold them neatly in place. The end result is a beautifully illuminated sign that immediately draws your attention and sets the nostalgic tone for the whole build.

Character Spotlights

I also included two warm white spotlights at the top of the set to shine up onto PAC-MAN and the ghosts. I built them using the parts in our Warm White Spotlight Pack, including an Astro Large Warm White Light, a 1x1 round open stud plate, a skeleton arm, and two modified 1x1 round plates with bar handles. These little spotlights point upward, giving the characters the look of being on stage—adding a bit of drama and creating a real show-stopping effect.

Assembly Walkthrough

  1. Start with the Astro Large Light – Warm White 30cm.
    Gently remove the label tag and thread the plug end through the open stud of the 1x1 round plate.
  2. Orient the light.
    Adjust the LED so it faces upward once inserted into the brick, ensuring it delivers a direct glow toward the bonsai canopy.
  3. Add structure.
    Attach the 1x1 modified plate with a bar handle to the base, followed by the skeleton arm, and then the other 1x1 modified plate. This creates a neat pivot point to angle the spotlight as needed.
  4. Repeat.
    Follow this process again so you have two spotlights, and position them on either side of the top of the set to add that dramatic lighting to the characters.

Glowing Red Coin Slot

One of my favourite details is the glowing red coin slot. Inside the build, I placed a Large Warm White Light behind a trans-red brick so that the slot glows bright red from the outside—just like the ones on classic arcade machines. It’s a small touch, but it brings back such strong memories for me of being a kid, asking Dad for coins, and lining up to play at the local arcade. It’s a subtle feature, but one that really ties the whole experience together.
